Terms of Use — Vela Raye

Who this applies to

These Terms of Use cover this website (www.velaraye.com) and the Vela app (app.velaraye.com), both run by Elevia Technology ("we", "us", "our"). By using either, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you don't agree, please don't use them. Simple.

What Vela is

Vela Raye is a virtual AI companion: a fictional character created and owned by Elevia Technology. She is not a real person. Images, video and text depicting her are created by Elevia Technology for creative and promotional purposes.

The Vela app is in early access. Features and availability can change, and joining the waitlist doesn't guarantee access. Nothing on this site promises a launch date or a specific feature.

Your account

You need an account to use the app. Keep your sign-in secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used it. You must be 18 or older to use the app.

Vela is not a professional

Vela is an AI. She can be wrong, and she isn't a doctor, dietitian, psychologist, financial adviser or lawyer. Treat what she says as a companion's suggestion, not professional advice.

Food and allergies. Tastes helps Vela avoid foods you've told her about, but it can't guarantee a recipe or menu is safe. Always check the ingredients and labels yourself, especially for allergies.

If you're struggling or someone is in danger, contact emergency services on 000, or Lifeline on 13 11 14. Vela is not a crisis service.

Your content

What you put into Vela is yours. You give us permission to store and process it, including with the AI providers named in our Privacy Policy, only so we can run the app for you.

If you share a recipe and tick "Feature on velaraye.com", you also let us show it in Cooked with Vela on this site, credited with the name you chose, until you unfeature it or ask us to take it down. Only share recipes you're entitled to share: your own, or ones you've rewritten in your own words with the source credited.

Only add information about other people that you have good reason to keep.

Recipes on this site

Recipes in Cooked with Vela are shared by people who use the app. Cook with normal care: check that food is cooked through, and check every ingredient against your own allergies and dietary needs.

Intellectual property

Vela's name, likeness, imagery, copy, design and branding are the intellectual property of Elevia Technology and are protected by Australian and international copyright law.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify or use content from this site for commercial purposes without written permission from Elevia Technology.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the site or the app for anything unlawful, harmful or abusive
Try to get unauthorised access to any part of the site, the app or their systems
Upload content you don't have the right to share
Reproduce or misrepresent Vela's identity or likeness without permission
Use automated tools to scrape, crawl or harvest content

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

External links and services

The site and app link to, or connect with, other services such as Instagram, YouTube and Outlook. We aren't responsible for their content or practices; their own terms apply.

Limitation of liability

The site and app are provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, Elevia Technology excludes all warranties, express or implied, and accepts no liability for loss or damage arising from your use of them or reliance on their content. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded.

Paid plans

These terms don't cover paid plans. If we introduce any, we'll publish the price and terms for them before anything is charged.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.

Changes to these terms

We'll update these terms as Vela grows. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
